Who Should You Be Networking With Next?

For those who’ve recently accepted a voluntary or involuntary severance package, the transition into “what’s next” can feel both exciting and overwhelming.
One thing I’ve learned is that networking will likely be the bridge between where you are now and your next big opportunity.
If you’re wondering where to begin, I'd start with V-Teamers who've already made the transition. In my experience, there is a really great level of comradery and appreciation for the culture and standards to which we were all held and that's an advantage.
So after years of layoffs, there are lots of V-Teamers already out in the world and they can potentially help you during this time.
Some are Industry Leaders (even outside of telecommunications)
Think about the many people you’ve worked with previously at Verizon— whether employees, partners, vendors, or even leaders from other companies you collaborated with on projects.
They know your skills and can potentially offer insights into how your expertise aligns with what’s happening in their industries.
Others Might Be Hiring Managers at Companies
Don't stope at the job boards. A direct introduction to a hiring manager could set you apart. If you’re unsure where to start, reach out to someone in your network for a warm introduction—it’s a great way to get your foot in the door.
Personally, if I saw a job application from a Verizon employee, I'd look closely.
💡 Remember, networking is about building authentic relationships. Take time to reconnect, ask for guidance, and offer value in return.
To my network: If you’re going through a similar transition or know someone looking for talented, experienced professionals, we'd love to connect!
Let’s support each other as we explore what’s next.
